Description:

The Sardar-e-Jangal gas field is located in the Caspian Sea, on the end of the border region of Iran, in Gilan province. It is 24 km long and 16 km wide and consists of several layers. The field was discovered in 2001 and at a depth of 700 meters subsea, and 10 years later, after an exploration of the semi-floating platform of Iran, Amir Kabir, a hydrocarbon reservoir was discovered too.

The Sardar-e-Jangal field has 50,000 billion cubic feet of storage in place of gas. That is, more than 10 times the size of Shah Deniz field in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the amount of oil in the oil layer of the field is 2 billion barrels, with estimated 500 million barrels of recoverable oil.
